I was driving south along I-95 around 1 PM today (Dec 16) when I saw a flycatcher flying from east to west right over my car. Traffic was fairly slow. Light snow was falling but I was able to see a fairly dark tail, light yellowish underside and grayish back and wings. The size appeared to be a little larger than an Eastern Kingbird but that was just a quick impression.
The location of the sighting was on Interstate 95 between the exits for Mountain Road and Rte 24, and near the Clayton Road Bridge over I-95. I noticed on the ADC map there is a Clayton Road Conservation Area nearby but the habitat looked to be mostly wooded with small farms and residences.
Even though I had a quick look I am pretty certain of what I saw. I have seen Western Kingbirds in the southwest as recently as last May although not flying in snow! Despite the strangeness of this sighting I wanted to post in case anyone is in the area so they can be aware.
