Mike,

I'm very glad that you were able to get some photos of the gull.  Your
description - a bird "that has been flying in too much smoke" - is
quite apt!  It is certainly the strangest-looking Ring-billed Gull
that I've ever seen.

I checked the lake this morning about 9:30 but didn't see the gull.
