Bob Augustine and I birded the Black Hills Reservoir for a couple of hours
today. We did NOT find the Eared Grebe. We did find 1 male and 3 female
Golden-eye, dozens each of Common Mergansers (mostly females), Hooded
Mergansers, and Bufflehead (about equal numbers of each sex), lots of Coots,
Canada Geese, and Mallards as well as some Redhead, Canvasback, American
Wigeon, Scaup, a Gadwall, one Blue-morph Snow Goose and a Tundra Swan. It
was, thankfully, not as cold and windy as a few days ago.
