Hi All,

Nancy and I birded SW Kant County this afternoon. There was a bit of
snow (not a lot really) and a belly-full of northerly wind.

We saw the young GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW at Chesapeake Farms for about
two minutes total time from 12:35 to 12:45 as it wove in and out of the
thicket next to its favorite pokeweed. Also present were 38
White-throated and 6 White-crowned sparrows, and a Sharp-shinned Hawk.

We then went down to Eastern Neck Island and later did a bit of birding
around Rock Hall and points north along MD-445. Best finds at Eastern
Neck Island were a Fox Sparrow, and 2 Ruby-crowned Kinglets.
Seventy-seven Tundra Swans were a pleasure to see and hear as well.

In Rock Hall Harbor there was an adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL on the
ice with the three more common gulls. North of the intersection of Swan
Pt. and Reeses Corner roads on MD-445 there were 12 Eastern Meadowlarks.

Good birding,

Walter Ellison & Nancy Martin

Chestertown, MD
