Warren Strobel and I birded a few spots in AA and Governor Bridge in
PG this morning.

7:15AM: Sandy Point: no lapland longspurs or snow buntings. Really
nice duck and gull numbers, but nothing out of the ordinary. No loons
or grebes detected.

Patuxent NT:
-One Black-Capped Chickadee, right past the first building (on the
right) on the entrance road. The bird was in a mixed flock with
Carolina's, RB Nuts, a Hermit Thrush and some Titmice (on the
left/North side of the road). Distinct slurred slowed call and it
even did a few two part whistles. Despite extensive efforts on the way
in and out, we were unable to attain photos. There is always 2011!
-Three American Tree Sparrows, just past the visitor check in station,
as you head South? On the road. They were in the catails that borders
a small sparse tree line. Warren got a photo or two.

The Navy Dairy Farm had a female Northern Harrier hunting over the
fields back by the cows.

Gov Bridge Natural Area had two Winter Wrens and an unidentified two
part call coming from the tree tops at the entrance to the big lake.

Warren, let me (all) know if I missed any other highlights!

A beautiful day to be out birding, albeit a bit chilly. Winter is like that...

Good Birding,
