Hi all,
Casually birded Blue Mash Trail in the late morning; somewhat on the quiet side, but got good looks at the continuing BLACK CAPPED CHICKADEE, which also called this time, it's trade mark: (lower toned) "Chicka-DEE, DEE DEE, Dee"
A surprise was a HOUSE WREN that appeared by the fence where the grassy area is above the small pond. Rounding the corner, I saw some sparrows and Cardinals low in the bushes, and all of the sudden, BAM! in comes a Sharp-shinned Hawk and after a quick wrestle, it grabs a Northern Cardinal (male) and pins it on the ground 30 feet from me.
As fast as it happened, the hawk was off with it's brunch.
