The Loggerhead Shrike was present near Pickering Creek today in the same
location as that of recent days. I first viewed the bird at 2:05, and took
another look around 3:00. The bird was easily seen both times. Between
those looks, I proceeded to the west on Presquile Road in hopes of finding a
Cackling Goose amongst the 1000's of Canada Geese in that region. That
search was not successful, but as is so often the case in birding - the
consolation prize was not all that bad anyhow - an immature Golden Eagle
flew past directly over Presquile Road, then joined two Turkey Vultures and
a Red-tailed Hawk for a few soaring circles, giving some great views, before
departing in a south-easterly direction.
