Hi Everyone,

My wife Becky and I spent a very enjoyable day cruising some favorite areas on the Eastern Shore. We had a few really nice highlights:

ICELAND GULL - The continuing first-cycle found by Clive Harris literally flew alongside us as we crossed the Bay Bridge this morning. Awesome.

GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE--Two amidst nearly 3,000 Canada Geese on Route 309 just north of Route 404.

GLAUCOUS GULL--First-cycle at the Salisbury Landfill. When Ron Gutberlet got out there, he picked out a second as well. Three Lesser Black-backed Gulls noted. Viewing was from Naylor Mill Road.

ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER--End of Nanticoke Road at Waterview, Wicomico Co. Photos.

We ended the day viewing Ellis Bay from Muddy Hole Road. A Great Horned Owl was perched conspicuously, allowing nice scope views before flying across the marsh. While enjoyable, this translated to a cancellation of the evening's Short-eared Owl show. One Virginia Rail called.

On the way north, I spotted an Eastern Screech-Owl perched beside the road. The adorable gray morph allowed me to pull up nearby for a few nice photos, much to Becky's enjoyment. We left it without even flushing the bird from its hunting.

Good birding!

Bill
