WSSC Filtration Plant (most birds about 1/4 mile upstream of plant:
Canada Goose 300
American Black Duck 1
Mallard 35
Redhead 7
Ring-necked Duck 550 (very conservative estimate. Maybe as many as 700)
Lesser Scaup 3
Bufflehead 10
Hooded Merganser 4
Common Merganser 11
Pied-billed Grebe 2
Ring-billed Gull 2

I was hoping for a stray Green-winged Teal, pintail, or woody but no
luck. This was some of better waterfowl variety and #s I have seen in
Mont Co sector this January. Having also checked Lock 6, 10,
Pennyfield, Violette's, Edwards and White's Ferry in recent weeks.
Maybe the Great Falls to south of Pennyfield sector gets a little less
hunting pressure than further upstream. Water level is lower than I
have ever seen in January.

Yesterday, I had 10 Eastern Meadowlark (not always easy to find in
Montgomery during winter) off Club Hollow Rd and a couple Common Raven
along Old Bucklodge Rd.
