Morning all,
As I took Peanut for his morning walk I noticed a Red-bellied Woodpecker in one of our persimmon trees, eating persimmons! There are quite a few fruits still on the trees (as well as many on the ground below) which provide winter sustenance to many birds and mammals; the red fox and opossum both like them. This is the first time I've seen a woodpecker at them, though.
First thing this morning I looked out and saw all the birds suddenly scatter, then looked out to see an adult Cooper's Hawk standing on the ground by the bird fountain, looking for breakfast. When I came back with the camera, it was gone.
GO RAVENS!!!
