This handsome winter visitor from up north showed himself beautifully today @ 2 pm. Around 1:15 pm a group of us set up next to the water below and to the left of the Ft Armistead circle. As we waited for the Harlequin, the channel paralleling the bridge had ruddy ducks, the water around the rocky point and further out had buffleheads, and a lone canvasback showed up. Then, around the point comes "histrionicus histrionicus". He seemed to sense his leading role, playing to the audience by steaming up the channel 20 yards, turning, coming back ten, and then turning right at us for a few bows before flying south towards the piers. He's around.

Good birding. David
