Thanks for the info on Blue Mash.  Tom and I visited this evening and were in the company of about seven other birders.  After freezing for a while we did see a short-eared owl around 5:45- 5:50 PM over the landfill.  I think you had a more exciting experience last night, but we all enjoyed seeing this bird!
