Hi all,
This morning I decided to follow-up on Andy Martin's sighting of the RL Hawk. A group was already there, scope at the ready. After a while, and no action we all split up to bird other places. I decided on a hunch to drive over to the Fieldcrest Rd side entrance and continue birding. Glad I did! The first bird I encountered was an American Tree Sparrow, and others.
As I walked into the field on the horse trail I swept the landfill horizon with my bins. Sitting on a low pipe was an immature Red Tail Hawk. In the tall tree near the landfill fence on one of the tallest tree was another figure. I put the bins on it, it had a dark belly and buffy head.
When it flew (NE) I saw the dark 'wrist' patch. Hope it hangs around. Check both places.
Later, Brad C. and I had a Northern Harrier hunting the fields.
