Hi everyone,

My wife Colleen and I took a drive through the upper shore today.
Highlights include:

Northern Shrike -- 1 -- Chino Farms, Queen Anne's
Black-capped Chickadee -- 1 -- Millington WMA, Kent
American Tree Sparrow -- 1 -- Millington WMA, Kent
Swamp Sparrow -- 1 -- Sandy Bottom Rd, Cecil
White-crowned Sparrow -- 3 -- Grove Neck Rd, Cecil (all immatures)
Purple Finch -- 2 -- Millington WMA, Kent (both brown)

The Black-capped Chickadee is a continuing bird at the Bozy Robinson
Maintenance area of Millington WMA. The bird was first found by Dan
Small and has been seen by many birders in the last few weeks. The
white "hockey stick" in the wing is very apparent as is the larger
size. I also heard the bird sing. There are Carolina Chickadees in
the area but they were not associating with the Black-capped Chickadee
which seems to be favoring the dead sun flower plantings between the
hedgerows west of the buildings. The Purple Finches were feeding in
the middle hedgerow west of the buildings. There are trees in the
hedgerow with fruit that also held American Robins. The American Tree
Sparrow was seen off of Big Stone Rd. Coming south on Big Stone Rd
from Rt. 330 there is a hunters parking lot just south of the bridge
on the left. It was feeding in the snowy grasses just past the
hedgerow on the north side of the path. It was not associating with
the Song and White-throated Sparrow flock that was also present.
