The drake Harlequin was underneath and along the south side of the concrete pier at Fort Armistead at around 4:10-4:40 today.  I felt very fortunate to see him, given that this was my first attempt since he was first spotted over two weeks ago.  Searched for Great Cormorants among over 200 Double-crested at Fort Carroll Light, but didn't see any.  None have been reported north of Sandy Point on eBird so far this season, which is a little surprising.
The dense fog and deep gray weather was, oddly enough, pretty neat today.  Standing in the shadow of the Key Bridge at the edge of the silvery upper Bay, I felt like I was in London or Dublin, or some other wintry Euro-industrial scene.
