I was surprised (actually kind of shocked) to see a Red-tailed Hawk with

Has anyone else seen this sort of behavior?
Yes, many times.
In the hardest winters, I've put out chicken and/or beef and everybody
comes, Red-tailed, Red-shouldered, crows, starlings, Vultures-black & turkey.
Of course the Starlings & crows wait on the outside of the eating circle
until the big guys move away.

Last year, in a field about 1/2 from here, some hunters left what they
didn't want from a deer kill. All of the above showed up plus two Bald Eagles.
