This afternoon while doing surveys along the Patuxent River as part of a
waterfowl study, I found a single GREAT CORMORANT heading north over the
river between Trent Hall Creek and Washington Creek. I viewed the bird from
the St. Mary's Co. side, but I suspect it was skirting the Calvert/St.
Mary's line as I watched it continue up river past Golden Beach. The bird was
an adult in breeding plumage with a conspicuous white hip patch. Also of
interest today was a flock of 17 AMERICAN PIPITS foraging in fields near
Benedict Avenue in Charles County.

Good birding,

David
