Being in the area anyway, I used the Snow Geese as an excuse to check
these fields. When I arrived, about 11:15, both Snow Geese (white
morph, one adult and one immature) were present in the same location but
were not visible when I checked again about a half-hour later. There
are several flocks of geese in the fields so the chances are the birds
are still there.

I spent the intervening time looking for smaller birds in the goose
flocks. I found 15 HORNED LARKS south of the snow goose location,
closer to Sunnyside and 5 American Pipits along Powder Mill Road. The
pipits were at the bus stop in front of Building 161. Be sure to park
only where its legal and safe.

Since field birds seem to be unreported in the county this year, I
should also mention the single pipit I found at Merkle on January 30.
