Hi Everyone,

I've posted some photos from the pelagic out of Lewes, Delaware on Saturday (2/5). I'll leave the full list to Paul Guris et al, but for inquiring minds, the highlights were Dovekies and Common Murres (5) in Maryland, and these two species, Black-legged Kittiwakes, and Razorbills in Delaware. The boat was followed by a first-cycle Glaucous Gull, a first-cycle Kumlien's Gull, and several Lesser Black-backed Gulls for much of the afternoon.

I spent the first half of today (2/6) in Worcester and Wicomico Counties with Tom Feild and Geraldine King. Our first stop was Truitt's Landing, where we met up with Jim Stasz, Jim Moore, and Jared Fisher. After much scanning we picked out the continuing COMMON TEAL, as well as a HYBRID GREEN-WINGED x COMMON TEAL. We counted at least six GREATER YELLOWLEGS and a number of vocal MARSH WRENs. Two or three NELSON'S SPARROWs were reasonably cooperative.

We parted ways with Jim Stasz and headed north to Mason Road, where Jim Moore quickly picked out the wintering CLAY-COLORED SPARROW found by Michael O'Brien on the Ocean City CBC (1/4/2011). Really cool date and location.

Tom, Geraldine, and I then birded areas north and east of Salisbury. The Johnson Road pond southeast of Salisbury held four REDHEADs among numerous Ring-necked Ducks.

The impressive goose flocks of the past week were nowhere to be found on roads like Log Cabin, Jersey, Waller, and others north of Salisbury. After about an hour of searching, we finally found a large, distant Snow Goose flock. After working with it for a while, it moved closer, allowing scope views of a single GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE in their midst. (Thanks, Ron, Mike, and Scott!)

Good birding!

Bill
