Evening all,

I was stuck waiting for a truck delivery at Snow Hill MS late this
afternoon, so I thought I would take a few minutes and visit Truitt's
Landing.

The COMMON TEAL (Eurasian GW) was in the back impoundment to the South and
fairly easy to pick out. I recommend searching for this bird when it is
cloudy... scan without the painful afternoon glare! Also of note, one
LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER feeding among the eleven Greater Yellowlegs. The KING
RAIL burst out once, scaring the ____ out of me, and then occasionally kept
vocalizing during my brief visit. Marsh Wrens also chimed in with some
comments. I'm not sure what the odds of this are, but I'd swear I heard a
Barn Owl scream emanating from the Northern end of the marsh. I'd welcome
any alternative possibilities from the experts. Lastly, a lone TREE SWALLOW
flew over the marsh to the North as I was leaving.

On the return trip home, I detoured to Waller Road. It took some time, but
about 3/4 of a mile to the West of the intersection with Jersey Road (on
Waller), I located the massive Snow Goose flock in the field to the South of
the road. The entire mass took to the skies twice, making one lone GREATER
WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE fairly easy to spot even in the fading light. A great
detour, I must say.

Thanks all for the many posts regarding these great birds.

Good Birding,
