Is it a sign of spring that I saw an American Robin land on a patch of
exposed grass in Elkton today, or that an adult Red-shouldered Hawk was
perched on a telephone wire on Blue Ball Road near Pleasant Hill? Our witch
hazel needs just a couple of above-freezing days to show its gorgeous bright
yellow flowers-I can see the petals peeking out of several buds.
