Folks,
During my brief visit, the adult BLACK-HEADED GULL took to the skies and
flew off to the South. I had to go to a meeting (which thankfully was
delayed, forcing me to enjoy lunch in this parking lot with this great
bird), so I didn't stick around to see if it returned.
From the parking lot, walk under Rt 404 to the South. It is a very short
gravel trail that ends overlooking this little marshy area where the
Black-headed Gull was lounging with 45 Ring-billed Gulls and a few Herring
Gulls.
To the North of the parking lot, an adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL kept
company with two Greater Black-backs and a few Herring Gulls. Common Mergs
were about, as was one lone Snow Goose that lounged in the parking area.
The goose appeared to be okay, but I suspect something might have been
amiss.
