Hi all,

I spent most of Sunday at the Salisbury Landfill as viewed from Naylor Mill
Road. The gull numbers were impressive especially for a Sunday. Matt
Hafner and Fred Fallon joined me mid afternoon. Some of the highlights
were- an interesting HERRING GULL that is suggestive of one of the European
subspecies, I have posted a couple of poor flight shots (I will post the
digiscopes as soon as possible) the overall grayness (as opposed to
brownish) of the bird was striking, it was small overall and had a mostly
dark bill with a bit of pink at the base. Among the 5 LESSER BLACK-BACKED
GULLS was one third cycle bird that had a darker mantle than what our
typical *graellsii *birds show, and was closer to the shade of a nearby
GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL (digiscopes to be posted ASAP). Other interesting
birds were continuing first cycle GLAUCOUS and KUMLIEN'S (Iceland) GULLS.

Some poor shots of the interesting Herring Gull can be seen at:

Good Birding!
