My husband and I found an open patch of water at Loch Raven Reservoir yesterday, 2/14. We entered from across Stone Hill Road and followed the path to near the end and saw open water to our left. There were Common Mergansers and Coots in abundance, both in the water and walking/preening on the ice. Highlights were several Redheads, and at least 3 (possibly 4) Bald Eagles.

The waterfowl present included:
Pied-billed Grebe
Canada Geese
American Widgeon
Redhead
Ring-necked Duck
Hooded Merganser
Common Merganser
American Coot

We also had:
Turkey Vulture
Red-tailed Hawk
Ring-billed Gull
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Downy Woodpecker
N. Flicker
American Crow
Fish Crow
Blue Jay
Carolina Chickadee
Tufted Titmouse
White-breasted Nuthatch
Carolina Wren
