Since the pond is the only water on the west end of the Mall, now that the Reflecting Pool has been drained for repairs, it was full of Canada Geese this morning.
Also present were the resident American Coot, the Redhead Duck previously mentioned, about two dozen Ring-necked Ducks, four American Wigeons and a few Cackling 
Geese among the Canadas -- as well as many Mallards.
 
I also found a male Yellow-bellied Sapsucker on a nearby tree .
 
Good birding during this nice touch of spring!
