I was there with the Northern Virginia Teen Bird Club on Saturday AM. We stayed in the previously described location for at least 30 minutes and saw several cardinals, white-throats, and white-crowneds but no Golden-crowned. However, an immature Golden Eagle flew over as we turned on to the drive. It was extremely windy and the Passerines mostly did not venture from the shelter of the thickets.

We went to Chesapeake Farms last Friday and searched for the GC Sparrow. We found no birds at all in the first set of hedgerows. Finally we found a flock of about a dozen White-crowneds and White-throateds on the right right at the end where you are asked not to go further. We stayed 1.5 hours and saw no trace of the GCS.
Has anyone seen this bird recently or gone there only to be skunked?
