Yesterday, I spent a good part of the day counting my yardbirds. Here is a copy of my report for the GBBC.
Number of Species: 17
All Reported: no
Checklist:
Canada Goose - 9
Black Vulture - 15
Turkey Vulture - 23
Mourning Dove - 6
Red-bellied Woodpecker - 1
Downy Woodpecker -
Woodpecker - 1
Blue Jay - 4
American Crow - 2
Carolina Chickadee - 5
Tufted Titmouse - 4
Red-breasted Nuthatch - 2
White-breasted Nuthatch - 1
White-throated Sparrow - 8
Dark-eyed Junco - 10
Northern Cardinal - 7
House Finch - 2
At one time the sky over my yard was filled with Black Vultures and Turkey Vultures. I counted 38 total but I think there were more. I was sad to see that they were 10-15 perched in the same tree and the trees closeby to were I saw the GB Heron land the previous day.
Also missing from my count on this day were the Amer. Goldfinch which I think is odd and Pine Siskins and the Pine Warbler all missing in action. I did go out for a few hours so maybe they appeared after I left.
My birdcam did catch at least three Pine Siskins on a feeder the day before on 2/20.
One more thing is I am pretty sure I still have at least one Black Capped Chickadee maybe more still here. I did not report the Black Capped because I was not able to get a photo for proof. But I did see the hocky stick white on the back wings.
