Yesterday Jim Green told of seeing a number of Wood Ducks at Cranberry
Reservoir, a record arrival date for the county. Today I found Wood Ducks in
three locations as many waterfowl are on the move.

Cranberry Reservoir - about 50% frozen
Canada Goose 2
Tundra Swan 73
Wood Duck 16
Baldpate 6, grazing on the ice
Mallard 1
Ring-necked Duck 1
Hooded Merganser 4
Ruddy Duck 2
Coot 1
Ring-billed Gull 11

Old Bachman Valley Road - a Bald Eagle in near-adult plumage working over a
deer carcass in a farm field.

Union Mills Wetland on Brown Road - flooded, good puddle duck habitat
Canada Goose 7
Wood Duck 1
Black Duck 4
Mallard 20
Pintail 4

Study Road Farm Pond - completely open
Canada Goose 2
Mallard 7
Ring-necked Duck 11
Ring-billed Gull 1, unusual on this little pond

New Windsor Wetlands - flooded also
Canada Goose 20
Wood Duck 6
Baldpate 4
Black Duck 2
Mallard 70
Ring-necked Duck 11
