There continues to be a nice assortment of waterfowl stopping in at Schoolhouse Pond. This morning I was greeted by 7 Tundra Swans on the pond when I arrived. Before I got down to the boardwalk they started calling and by 7 am they had all flown off as a group towards the Patuxent River. And, in addition to the usual group of Canada Geese, Mallards, and 23 Northern Shovelers, there were also 7 Green-winged Teal and 4 Wood Ducks at the rear of the pond, my first Woodies at the pond this year. The Eastern Phoebe was singing vigorously at the rear of the pond. Yesterday at lunchtime there was an adult male Lesser Scaup.
