Location: Oxbow Lake
Observation date: 3/5/11
Notes: Date 20110305, Start time: 10:30 a.m., Finish time 3:30 p.m.,
Temperature (F): 44-61°F, Wind: (1) Wind: SE at 10 mph, % ice cover: 0%,
Humidity: 54%. Took my chair and scope and set up camp at the observation point
overlooking Gallinule Point. 49 Tundra Swan (43 flew in overnight + 6 that were
yesterday) hung out in the northwestern corner of the lake. They stayed in the
same vicintiy for the 5 hours that I observed them - only using energy to eat
and sleep. Several times they would all start wooing and it was just beautiful
to hear. The highlight of the day was a Great Horned Owl (Ira Simon got
pictures). Also counted 10 deer in a small herd that passed behind the swan. Ira
had 2 Fox Sparrows at his feeders.

Location: Oxbow Lake
Observation date: 3/4/11
Notes: 2 River Otters. The adult Bald Eagle swooped in later in the afternoon and made several passes over the lake flushing the ducks and making it quite easy to pick out the American Black Ducks and Northern Pintails. Ira Simon and I both scanned for Wilson's Snipe with no luck.
