Baltimore Bird Club - Bluebird lecture tonight at Cylburn
 - reminder from Pete Webb, BBC lecture chairman
You don't want to miss this very special presentation tonight!
MAR 1 (Tue) 7:00 pm Tuesday Evening Lecture at Cylburn’s Greenhouse Classroom. Continuing a series of monthly feature presentations and slide shows. Tonight's highly acclaimed and recommended presentation:
Helping Bluebirds with Katherine Patterson, bluebird trail monitor at Oregon Ridge Nature Center and volunteer naturalist and trustee at Irvine Nature Center. Katherine’s presentation will include a history of the "Bluebird Movement" and the establishment of the North American Bluebird Society, the natural history of bluebirds, habitat, nesting, nest box design, predators and competitors, trouble shooting, gardening for wildlife and the importance of monitoring nest boxes. Participants will receive several resource handouts and construction plans for an Eastern Bluebird nest box.
Doors open at Cylburn at 7:00 pm for socializing and snacks, show starts about 7:15 pm.
-> Directions to Cylburn Greenhouse lecture room: From I-695 Baltimore Beltway, go south on I-83 Jones Falls Expressway. Take Northern Parkway exit west (right) and immediately get into left lane. Take first left onto Cylburn Ave. (before going up the hill). Go about ˝ mile and watch the left side of the avenue for an entrance gate, which should be open. Go up the driveway, bear left at intersections, to small parking lot on right. The building beside the lot has a side entrance door. Go in, walk through a short hallway on your left, and through a door at the end into the lecture room.
-> If the gate isn't open yet, it's a bit more complicated:
Continue up the hill to the first intersection, Greenspring Avenue. Turn left, then left again almost immediately through a stone gate entryway, up the driveway. When you reach a traffic circle, go 3/4 of the way around,
in order to go left into a parking lot. Continue through the parking lot and slightly left, then slightly downhill to a 'T' intersection with a drive coming up from your left. Turn right to follow it uphill to another parking lot. Park there. The adjacent building has a door facing the lot. Go in that and left down a short hallway, as above, into the lecture room.
Bring your cell phone with you in your car. If you get lost,
my cell phone number (Pete Webb, lecture chairman) is 443 904-6314.

By the way, another reminder: if it doesn't rain all day,
this Saturday there's the Middle Creek (PA) waterfowl trip,
an all-day trip for waterfowl, early returning Tree Swallows (I hope),
and an optional stay 'til dusk for the Short-eared Owls show.
 Here's the trip description:
MAR 5 (Sat) 8:00 am Middle Creek WMA. Bring lunch for an all-day trip to visit this major gathering place north of Lancaster, PA., for Snow Geese and other waterfowl. There is also an excellent display of mounted birds in the visitor center. Note: Trip may go elsewhere if Middle Creek is frozen over. Leader: Pete Webb, 486-1217 or cell 443 904-6314 or email Contact leader to learn if trip is delayed a week due to ice on lake or weather conditions.
-> Directions to Timonium Park-n-ride: north on I-83 from Beltway, take SECOND Timonium Road exit (north end of overpass bridge), follow ramp down and turn LEFT onto Greenspring Drive, go past warehouses and first couple of entrances, past the “Kiss-n-Ride” entrance, take the next entrance into the park-n-ride lot.
