From I-83 on the north side of the Baltimore Beltway, get off on the Shawan Rd. 
exit (exit 20) and proceed EAST to MD rte. 45 - York Rd. Turn right, south on 
York Rd. and immmediately get into the left lane. In less than 1/4 mile turn 
left onto MD Rte 145 - Ashland Road. Ashland Rd. becomes Paper Mill Rd. and you 
stay on this for a little more than 1 mile from where you turned onto it. After 
crossing the bridge over the Gunpowder River/north end of Loch Raven reservoir, 
look for a parking area less than 1/4 mile beyond the bride. Walking west from 
the lot, you'll see trails that you can follow to the area just north of the 
bridge where you can view the water and flats for the birds.
