Hi all,

A quick walk through Brookside Gardens and adjacent Wheaton Park
(Mont. Co.) late this morning yielded a few birds of interest, plus the
gardens are full of beautiful spring flowers so a very enjoyable visit!
Actually, Pine Lake and its environs were the most productive birding
areas, with a couple of Hooded Mergansers and a little flock of 5 Lesser
Scaup, plus three "first-of-season-locally" Eastern Phoebes working the
margins. The Belted Kingfishers were obvious and vocal. Brushpiles held
5 Fox Sparrows (several singing) and a Winter Wren, while a
Golden-crowned Kinglet called in the pines nearby. Several
Red-shouldered Hawks made their presence known as well.
