I spotted a piece of paper at the far end of our playing field on Monday morning that started walking. Two third graders and I slowly approached it until I could finally see that it was a very blotchy robin. The blotches were the rusty red and grey on the back; the main color was white.

It returned today and since I had my spotting scope in the car, 24 2nd graders (who are actually studying birds with their teacher) got a quick peek at this bird. Everytime one of them said, "Whoa," I pulled him/her away to let the next one take a look.

We all agreed that it was "very cool."
