Hi all,

Barry and I went up to Back River this afternoon to check for Little Gulls
-- but although there were an estimated 700-800 Bonaparte's Gulls on the
river (most below the Eastern Ave. bridge) we could not find a Little Gull.
Quite a few birds were too far away on the water for ID as despite the cold
air, there was a lot of heat haze. So could be one out there. We did see 2-3
Ospreys, several hundred Tree Swallows and a Mourning Cloak.

From Back River we went to Ft. Armistead Park and found the male HARLEQUIN
DUCK on the north side of the long pier which is just over the Anne Arundel
Co. line. Also present were a few Bufflehead, a female Common Goldeneye and
a Horned Grebe.
