Hi Joe: Thanks for the call and the post. I ventured out before work early
this morning. I first went to Annapolis Rock Road just before daylight
hoping to hear a Great Horned Owl but had no luck in the early morning
drizzle. I then checked out the pond on Jenning Chapel Rd that Joe posted
about yesterday. Not only were the 3 Lesser Scaup there but the other
waterfowl present were identical to the species and numbers that Joe listed:
Canada Goose (14), Ring-necked Duck (3) and Hooded  Merganser (2 females).
There was also one Ring-billed Gull sitting on the bank and I saw the Belted
Kingfisher as well.

I made one more stop checking out another Howard County pond on Rt. 94
(south of the intersection of Old Annapolis Rd. There were 10 Ruddy Ducks
(several in full breeding plumage minus the blue bill), 12 Ring-necked Ducks
and 2 Hooded Mergansers.
