I scanned the Washington Channel and Potomac River around Hains Point
in DC this morning from 7:30-8:30, but didn't have any luck finding
the Eared Grebe that has been reported by several people, and over a
couple days. I do keep finding a Horned Grebe in pretty much the
exact location the Eared has been reported - actively diving right
along the seawall a couple hundred yards from the tip of Hains
Point. Photo below. This is the third day in a row I've seen this
Horned Grebe by himself in the same place.

There were about 12 other Horned Grebes in the Channel - 10 of them in
a grouping on the far side. Pretty much from out of nowhere a Red-
necked Grebe popped up right next to a Horned. Nice consolation for
an Eared - but I'd still really like to see that bird!

There were also 8 or so Ring-necked Ducks, a Pied-billed Grebe and a
bunch of the usual Canada Geese, Cormorants and Mallards.
