Wheeled in at about 1000 and ran into Eileen & Michael Weiss, who
planned to do a cursory search for warblers before proceeding on to
the Oxbow (sic) area for Snipe, etc. Cloudy and cool, a slow morning,
but still a few goodies, with signs of spring in emerging wildflowers and
some new (FOY) sightings for all, including: an exhuberance of ROBIN;
a heard KINGFISHER; four 'peckers, incl. PILEATED; a BROWN
CREEPER; 4 or 5 "little mockers", actually BG GNATCATCHERS;
both (of several) KINGLETS; 5 or 6 MYRTLES; about 10 PALMS; a
possible couple PARULAS (high in the trees); a MISS on previously
reported B&W and LA W'thrush; lots of singing CARDINALS; a single
GOLDFINCH; several heard HOUSE FINCH; and, a lone SWAMP
SPARROW. There were 28 spp. overall.
