Ben Jesup and I braved the rain Wednesday afternoon for a walk around the Mall. Perhaps the best birds were a pair of AMERICAN WIGEON on the Constitution Gardens pond. We found one nice mixed flock just the northeast of the pond, another near the stables, and a third northwest of the Reflecting Pool, ending up with some good numbers of some migrants. We did have to do quite a bit more walking than in the past, due to the construction and closures around the DC WWI Memorial, which also made that area fairly birdless. The Reflecting Pool is empty and muddy, but didn't hold any shorebirds.

Other highlights:
Northern Rough-Winged Swallow (over Tidal Basin)
Brown Thrasher
Hermit Thrush (12)
Brown Creeper (2)
Winter and House Wrens
Ruby-crowned Kinglet (12)
Palm Warber (5 Yellow)
Field (4), Chipping (2), White-throated, Swamp, and Song Sparrows
Juncos (60)
