Went down to Southwest Area Park this morning to see if I could get myself a
Vesper Sparrow for the year list. Success on that front. The bridge along
the path (by fishing docks and boat ramp) was just barely above water
level. It was pretty clear by the mud and vegetation surrounding the
bridge that during the rain the water level had risen above it.
Location: Southwest Area Park
Observation date: 4/17/11
Notes: Buteo sp. was likely a Red-shouldered, but it was riding thermals
very far off and high up and flew out of view. The possibility of
Broad-winged definitely lingered in my mind.
