Shorebirds at Schoolhouse Pond this morning included 3 Solitary Sandpipers and 1 Lesser Yellowlegs. There were 5 flyover Great Blue Herons and 1 flyover Great Egret. There were also large numbers (40+) of Blue Jays flying overhead heading to the northeast. Many of the usual birds were also present and active, including Parula, Yellow-rumped Warblers, Common Yellowthroats, Phoebe, a singing House Wren, Tree Swallows, Barn Swallows, Chimney Swifts, and 2 Green-winged Teal. Flyover gulls included 607 Laughing Gulls, 18 Herring Gulls, 15 Ring-billed Gulls, and 4 Bonaparte's Gulls. Although the main part of the gull season is well past, I always enjoy this time of year with the large numbers of noisy Laughing Gulls streaming overhead during my morning walk and the occasional Bonie mixed in to keep things interesting. Good birding,
