After seeing the upland sandpiper early am behind the marshy impoundments, there are both teals, pair of gadwall, both bitterns, virginia rail, sora, 17 snipes, marsh wren, lots of swamp sparrows with total of 34 species there. At the new swan harbor retention pond, both bufflehead and horned grebe continue along with 3 least sandpiper at exposed mudflats which cover nearly half of a pond. Looks good for shorebird peak time in may. - Kevin Graff
