Lots of birds at Pennyfield Lock on the C&O canal today. Many Parulas.
several singing and seen; Yellow-throated and Blue-wing warblers, a bunch
of singing Common Yellowthroats; both Orioles (in the same tree), a humming
bird, a heard only Great Crested, and (reported by others) Louisiana and
Northern Water Thrushes. Out on River Road, between Riley's Lock Rd, and
Hughes RD, were many Prairie Warblers ,singing and chasing each other
around. A brief visit to Hughes Hollow yielded three more Orchard Orioles
and a Green heron. Great day to be out and about.
