Hi all,

Like many birders, I go into a frenzy every January 1st to get a head start
on my year list. Year listing is one of the great rejuvenators of birders
everywhere! One of the detractors of keeping a year list is, of course, the
actual, physical listing itself. I wanted to share with MDOsprey a listing
website that provides ease of entry for any type of list: life, year, state,
county - and also a revolutionary new function: TARGET BIRDS. The site not
only allows you to keep track of the birds you have seen, but also to review
birds which you have YET to see, organized by the frequency of sightings on
other birders' lists!

Because the site is of British origin, it has really failed to take off in
the States or be noticed by U.S. listers, but it really is stunning in
execution and format. I've been in contact via e-mail over the past few
years with the guys who run it, they really are pulling to provide this type
of ground-breaking listing service for an international community, so I urge
you all to peruse the site at the very least. If it seems up your alley,
join up! My ABA 2011 list is at 145, and I can say with certainty that I
wouldn't know that number - nor my future target birds for the year - if it
weren't for Bubo Listing.

P.S. Recent bird notes (FOY), 4/25: 2 Gray Catbirds were staking out
territory in my neighborhood, and a House Wren has claimed a local
birdhouse.
