Subject: Poplar Island Sightings from April 21, 2011
This report is submitted on behalf of Jan Reese of Talbot County, who
continues to periodically survey the flora and fauna of the Paul Sarbanes
Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island.
The summary of bird observations that follows was taken by permission
from the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and MD Port Administration, April
2011, Fauna Monitoring Report for the Paul S. Sarbanes Ecosystem Restoration
Project at Poplar Island.
Note the presence of Tricolored Heron, Turkey Vulture, three rail
species, Black-necked Stilt, Caspian Tern, Short-eared Owl and Chimney
Swift. Note also the large numbers of Double-crested Cormorants.
