This evening there was an Upland Sandpiper near the marshy impoundment at Swan Harbor. I was on the path from the road to the blind and the bird flushed from the grassy edge in front of the blind and flew into the cornfield. I called John Gallo, but we couldn't refind the bird in the 15 minutes before it was too dark. While we searched, Least Bitterns and Pied-billed Grebes were calling from inside the impoundment. We also walked down to the east end of the impoundment where a King Rail called a couple times.
The Horned Grebe and a female Bufflehead were in the new impoundments.
John was going to look for the Uppie again in the morning, I hope it returns to the same area.
Good birding,
