Regrettably this was not at a public place, nor did it linger. My wife and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary at the Grammercy Mansion, on Greenspring Valley Rd. just west of the intersection with Greenspring Rd. This morning I went for a stroll, noting pretty much usual suspects, and as I was about to go back inside just about 8:00 a.m., what should pop into a tree right out front but a nice, male, Summer Tanager, subduing a juicy caterpillar. This is a species that has eluded me at home in Howard County, though I have seen it many times in PG, and once in Worcester (I think. Edesville). Nice anniversary present on a day I was not really expecting to get any birding in.
Not sure this will actually go to Osprey, as I am accessing e-mail remotely, and don't have my password handy to log directly onto Osprey.
