I was at the site from about 7-10. It was raining pretty hard the entire time. I twice heard a gallinule-type call just to the SE of the dirt trail that goes down to the impoundment 100 or so feet west of the parking lot. I did not see the bird. I presume it was the Purple Gallinule. Hope lives.

Good birding,
Mark Hoffman

Subject: [MDOSPREY] Chasing Purple Gallinule

I have a free afternoon, so am setting out shortly for Hughes Hollow. ETA
12:30. If anyone has spotted it already, please advise 443-538-2370.
Note that I probably will not have it turned on before 11:30. Hopefully
the unsettled weather overnight kept it in place, and I see clearing skies
to the west.
