This morning, on the regularly scheduled walk at the Fran Uhler Natural
Area (FUNA), several of us heard an Eastern Towhee singing an unusual
song. It consisted of two identical notes. To my ear, the notes were
indistinguishable from the common "jay" call of a Blue Jay.

If you would like to hear this bird for yourself, I would not be
surprised if it continues to sing through the spring. FUNA is located
in Prince George's County along the Patuxent River between PWRC Central
Tract and the Bowie State University. Access is from Lemmon's Bridge
Road which heads north from Route 197. Park at the gate, then continue
walking toward the river. Stop at the end of the open field (under the
power lines) to your left.
