Hi all,

I visited some spots in eastern Montgomery county yesterday hoping to run into hooded warblers. Unfortunately, I struck out in that regard but did chance upon a few unexpected birds (well unexpected near hooded warbler territory, at least). First nice bird of the day was a Blue Grosbeak at Little Bennett Regional Park along Kingsley trail not too far from the parking lot. Besides that things were a bit slow. I arrived a bit too late to expect a good warbler show and only left with expected breeders. Though it was now around noon, I then headed over to Tucker Lane near Ashton. While walking along the road and doing a bit of pishing, I got awesome views of a curious Lincoln's Sparrow, my first spring record. Giving up on hoodeds, I gave Blue Mash a quick visit to see if any Willow Flycatchers were back and was happy to hear and see one bird along the fenceline in the back. Two Kentucky Warblers, seemingly eager to be added to my year list, didn't care what time it was and were singing away along Triadelphia Lake Road.
